Time Out

In order to alleviate any concerns on my viewers part and all the
guilt on mine . . . just want to let you know . . . I will be taking a break from my daily painting blog until August . . . considering I have done approximately 450 to 500 painting in the first 7 months of the year . . . I'm okay with this . . .pursuing an endeavour of the photographic kind . . . in fact bought a new SLR Digital camera yesterday . . . also in the market for a "wood chipper" . . . more on that when I return . . . today's painting is 6x6 $48 . . . please e-mail me if you are interested!

Day 199 & 200 Stuck!

Currently experiencing philosophical difficulties of an artistic nature . . . regarding the self serving personal process or performance verses the relevance and physical attributes of the by product . . . this is NOT "painters block ". . . it is not the inability or desire to paint . . . I may be swerving off into a new direction . . . not sure . . . just waiting for the brain dust to settle behind me . . . as I screech to a halt. . . at this creative little intersection in my head . . . ???

Day 197 & 198 Shout Out

I have company this week and finally finished revamping my painting areas . . . so I am going to give you a little something different today! . . . Here are two paintings (not mine) that won awards at the Reservation Views Paint Out the first is by Jared Shear that the committee chose for the Sandpiper Select Award . . . out of both myself and the other two members this was the only painting that was on all three of the our personal ballots . . . the second painting by R. Day 195 & 196 Missing in Action

Sorry . . . I've been missing in action for two days . . . "action" is the key word . . . got all the paintings framed and hung the show at the Sandpiper Gallery . . . the opening reception is this Friday, July 16th from 5-7 p.m. . . . the gallery is located at 306 Main in Polson, MT . . . hope to see all you "locals" there! . . . I've also been busy completely revamping my loft studio space and rearranging all my daily painting & framing materials on the main floor . . . both are looking good . . . but now the "basement" workshop area is a disaster! . . . as all the "what should I do with this" stuff went down there!

Day 186-187 Music & Memory

MUSIC & MEMORY

This was done at the Montana House in Apgar, Glacier National Park . . . I painted a specific part of the painting during each of the songs the live band played. . . hence the title Music . . . it is also a view looking up Mc Donald Creek towards the lake that I did from memory . . . I don't think the mountains are quite right and I know for sure I left out the old snag at the corner of the creek . . . but not bad overall . . . this piece is not currently available . . . watch for a link to my big Glacier project & blog coming soon (probably August) . . . also if you are local "save the date" Friday, July 16th 5-7 at the Sandpiper Gallery in Polson will be hosting a reception for Contemporary Visions . . . a group show featuring my work along with five other artists. From the paint out last week . . . this beautiful red heifer was laying in the shade of a big willow next to a little spring pond . . . without a care in the world . . .I on the other hand was standing on the other side of the fence on a dusty, gravel road in the 83 degree mid day sun . . . hence the title of today's blog . . . still sorting pieces for the up coming show . . . this is an 8x10 . . . it may or may not be in the exhibit . . . so please e-mail me ASAP if you are interested . . .
