Dreams of Horses

With REAL Fur Ears!
My latest project . . . I found this rocking horse in the thrift store over a year ago. . . it was painted duct tape grey with white "spray painted" spots and had a snarly carpet yarn tail and mane. . . as you can see I completely "redid" it . . . for my granddaughter . . . but he will "live" at Gramma's house. . . Merry Christmas!

Up The Creek

Here are some photos of the Paddle Art project I did for the upcoming (January 20th) auction to benefit the Tamarack Grief Resource Center & Camp Remember . . . done in acrylics which were a pain to work with for me. . . I designed nearly two dozen "ideas" for this and kept changing my mind . . . the paddle is studded with a total of 16 crystals . . . 8 depict the Big Dipper & the North Star . . . last year these paddles went for between $550 & $1050 . . . so will see! . . . Enjoy!

de ja vue

DOCK ROCKS
MAKE THE CLOUDS GO AWAY
DE JA VUE
Bottom painting in the one I did for a "Quick Draw" Auction in June based on the painting MAKE THE CLOUDS GO AWAY which I also did in June . . . Ironically the same people that bought DOCK ROCKS in August had bought DE JA VUE . . . unfortunately it got smudged and scratched . . . obviously because it was "wet" . . . so when I delivered DOCK ROCKS I got DE JA VUE back . . .and WAH LA! I fixed it today! . . . and will deliver it back to them next week . . . not a very exciting project but that was the extent of my painting today . . .Enjoy!

ANOTHER ONE

EGG TEMPERA IN PROGRESS
Okay so here is the other one I started . . . you can see how the values are built up "slowly" . . . not really my thing but I am going to try and go back to this in between projects . . . stay tuned . . .

Sunday, September 19, 2010

UGH EGG!

FIRST TEMPERA
Some of the new supplies I purchased included a set of egg tempera paints . . . here is a little 4x6 study I did with them. . . it is a very slow tedious process . . . and I went too fast on this one as you need to let each layer dry and add the next very carefully . . . like watercolor but much harder . . . it is extremely easy to damage the layers underneath . . . probably not something I'll stick with but worth a try . . . Enjoy!

A LITTLE MORE RED!

ANOTHER RED UNDER PAINTING STUDY
Got a little heavy handed with this towards the end . . .it is amazing how much the red under painting changes the colors . . . I used my "regular" palette but all the colors look different and like I said yesterday the dark values pop right up . . .Enjoy . . . NFS!

Friday, September 17, 2010

READY FOR RED

UNDER PAINTING IN RED
back to a little something I tried late last winter . . . under painting in red . . . really like this technique although it can get away from you quickly and you'll end up getting darker values than planned . . . I'm also not as patient as one should be . . . you really need to allow the under painting to set up a little longer before continuing . . . too wet to paint plein air but will try this some more when I get back out. . . Enjoy!

ROCK ON!

LITTLE ROCK STUDY
Done at Lakeside before I went to the coast . . . love the texture of the linen panel . . . hate the styrofoam "fuzzies"from the inside of my wet panel carrying case. . . white spots all over the bottom I will hvave to pick off by hand when it's dry . . . Enjoy!
