Sandpiper Gallery in Polson

Just a reminder, Friday, August 24th is the opening reception of "Painters", this upcoming exhibition at the Sandpiper Gallery will include a dozen paintings from my latest series, works by my dear friend (and fabulous landscape painter) Mary Kelley, as well as, paintings by Lavonne Burgard, Phil Korrell and Alice Varnum. Please join us at the reception from 5 to 7 pm this Friday.

The Sandpiper Gallery, located at 306 Main Street is open Monday through Saturday and this exhibition runs through September 28th.

Most of my Followers will remember that my "full moon" paintings are often purchased by Hunter Moon Meadery in Colorado to be used for labeling their products. So it was fun to hear how well their honey mead did at a big time competition recently . . . here are a couple of photos!

Reservation Views Paint Out!

This is actually a a sample of my work from last year's Reservation View Paint Out!

The Sandpiper Gallery will once again be hosting the Reservation Views Paint Out, Thursday, June 14th through Sunday, June 17th, followed by the corresponding Exhibition opening June 19th and a Closing Reception to be held on Friday, July 6th. Applications must be postmarked by June 1st. These forms will be available at the gallery and on the website www.sandpiperartgallery.com or email me for copies - kellyapgar(at)hotmail.com.

This is a non-juried paint out with a very reasonable registration fee, which is used to cover the cost of the event, with all remaining funds going to support the Sandpiper's exhibitions, classes and scholarship programs.

New This Year! Local Artists and Sandpiper Members; Kelly Apgar, Mary Kelley and John Davis will each be hosting a "group painting" event at a specific time and location on Thursday, Friday and Saturday respectively. Reservation Views participants have the chance to watch these artists work, meet the other participants and visit some specific locations together. You will also be able to "sign in" at these events or at the gallery as usual. Times and locations of the "group painting" events will be provided to all participants following the June 1st deadline.

You are encouraged to invite other artists to participate. Please feel free to share this invitation with anybody you know that is artistic, wants to be creative and/or someone that might enjoy this event! Getting the word out now also increases the number of potential "patrons" to the exhibition! Thank you.

Teaching at FVCC

I start substitute teaching Tuesday (oil painting) at Flathead Valley Community College (until mid April) . . . so here is an oil sketch I did . . . inspired by the still life that has been set up for the students . . .
